kyleahurr asked: Looking amazing man. been waiting on this. wish i could donate alot more than i have to the kick starter when its up. i will be sure to be advertising this on the various forums i moderate.

Thanks Kyle! We’re looking forward to getting it out there into the world and seeing if we can pull of a successful funding campaign on KS.

Oh, did I say WE? Yeah, that’s because there’s a really real developer helping out now! Yay!

One of the posters we’ll be offering as a reward for during our Kickstarter campaign. Pretty neat, eh?

drivethisstake asked: whats your estimated release date for a playable demo?

When it’s ready! Hopefully soon.

New Player HUD! Still trying to figure out how to best handle the objectives list - they should be on-screen without the player having to open a menu up to see what they’re supposed to be doing, but right now it might be taking up a bit too much screen real estate, especially at lower resolutions.

Work continues as I build out the space station’s bridge/control room.
Of course there’s a space station. It’s in space.
>: Holographic projectors spin, “interlacing” moves, a faint buzzing sound is heard nearby.
Also: Updated GUI almost complete. Just need ammo counter/bar & icon for current active weapon.
Also also: The alarm light got magenta-ified because it being red was hiding where weapon pickups were…and they’re also red. Whoops. Fixed.

redcloud asked: When you release on OS X, will you go through Apple's app store? Any thoughts of doing an IOS version (eventually)?

A more PR-friendly way of saying everything below would probably be something like “all avenues to get the game out there so people can play and enjoy it will be considered in full.”

You want details? I’ll gives you details:

Should full funding be achieved, the initial cross-platform release will be, hopefully, on Steam. I need to aim for the most efficient way to get it out on both Windows & OSX, and Steam seems to be the most sensible way to do this. Cross-platform achievements through Steamworks is a nice bonus as well.

Also, I have a huge man-crush on Valve and their awesome treatment of indie developers. Many <3’s to them, in a completely platonic way.

I’m not really sure how I feel about Apple’s App desktop store (or their mobile store, but that’s another rant). The “walled garden” approach to managing what’s released on a desktop platform (and their taking a big chunk of sales) doesn’t really sit well with me.

Considering the more hardcore style of gameplay I’m aiming for I don’t know that I’d see much difference in sales between Steam and the desktop App store. Plus, it’d be like supporting Games for Windows on the Microsoft side of the fence, and PC gamers don’t really respond well to that method of distribution and software management (they hate it).

Both iOS and Android versions are a very distinct possibility, though some bells & whistles may fall by the wayside on those platforms due to limitations inherent to mobile devices. I expect I’d be able to keep achievements intact through OpenFeint - again, my choice is because it’s cross-platform - and really, just better than Apple’s Game Center on iOS.

known-android asked: Are we going to be able to test out the game? I would love to get my hands on this, sad I ain't got money for when it's released. :'(

I’m sure a demo of the game will be released for all to try. I’d be crazy not to. The full version will cost money, of course, but you’ll be able to save 5 bucks (and get extra stuff too!) by donating to the KickStarter campaign in a few weeks.

So yeah, it’ll still cost you some dough, but you’ll get a discount AND cool bonuses in return! I think that’s pretty fair :).

Exciting Things. They are Happening.

Can’t wait to talk about some of the stuff being planned for the KickStarter project launch! Some very, very cool rewards being worked out. Geez. So cool.

People like cool rewards stuff, right? Got any suggestions about how cool stuff could be even cooler?
